"A staggering achievement . . . A breath-taking tour de force"
-- Sara Paretsky
Make no mistake. EVA WYLIE's no trim, petite female California-tanned gumshoe with a cute little turned-up nose, in a smart little ensemble, waiting around for some cop boyfriend to come rescue her. She's big, ugly, mean-tempered and more than able to take care of herself. She's a security guard and part-time professional wrestler, known in the ring as the London Assassin. Another reason, no doubt, that there'll always be an England.
She was a welcome respite from the sudden horde of female eyes that seemingly appeared overnight in the wake of the success of Sharon, Kinnsey, V.I. and Cody's own ANNA LEE, who makes a brief cameo from time to time in the Wylie books.
Liza Cody was born in London, and attended the City and Guilds of London Art School and the Royal Academy School of Art, supporting herself as a painter. She has worked as a film studio technician, a furniture-maker, a photographer, a graphic designer and an assistant at Madame Tussauds.
