Okay, that were thirty-five or so years ago, when he was stationed in Vietnam. Now he's Buffalo, New York's only black private eye, a reformed alcoholic and divorced ex-cop estranged from his son, and scraping by... just.
Still, in his one appearance to date, 2004's "More Than One Way," he proves to be a skilled and methodical detective, a compelling and likable character with his own brand of justice, hired to track down an old army buddy's ex-wife.
Penny Mickelbury is the author of two successful mystery series, one featuring Carole Ann Gibson, a criminal defense attorney, and one featuring Mimi Patterson, an investigative reporter.
