Jack Delmas
Created by Martin Hegwood
Meet good ol' boy and would-be southern gentleman JACK DELMAS.
Born and bred on the bayou, Jack works as a rather rough-and-ready
private eye in Point Cadet, Mississippi who knows his way around
the backroads of the Gulf Coast and the mean streets of the Big
Easy. And Jack also has an appreciation for the finer things in
life, such as old pickups, cold Dixie beer, good gumbo, and pretty
barmaids.
Jack's debut, Big Easy Backroad, has been drawing a
fair share of attention, both for its vivid setting, and for its
tough and terse prose style. Pass a good time with this new bayou
gumshoe.
UNDER OATH
- "Hegwood's straightforward style bears little resemblance
to James Lee Burke's lyrical prose, but those who find that lyricism
a bit purplish may prefer the no-frills approach. A suspenseful
and entertaining beginning to a promising series."
(Jenny McLarin, Booklist , June 1, 1999)
