From down under comes feisty, hard-living Australian private eye CLAUDIA VALENTINE. Claudia lives on top of a bar in a rather seedy area of Sydney, and tries to come to terms with a failed marriage and the children who no longer live with her. Claudia snatched up a PWA Shamus for Best Paperback Original Private Eye Novel for The Last Tango of Delores Delgado (1992), the third entry in this excellent series, and has won much critical acclaim for her creator, Marele Day. Ms. Day has also been known to write about another P.I., Mavis Levack, who actually made her debut as a nosy neighbour in The Life and Crimes of Harry Lavender (1988). UNDER OATH
