  • Teddy London, not to be outdone by Mike Hammer, calls his gun "Betty" and his knife "Veronica."

  • Travis McGee calls his bastardized 1936 Rolls Royce pickup truck (painted an ungodly blue) "Miss Agnes," after McGee's fourth grade teacher who apparently had hair the same colour.

  • Eddie Drake calls his three-wheeled Davis D-2 Divan "Dave."
