Some of the Great Detectives:
Eyes Included in Maxim Jakubowski
's 100 Great Detectives

Maxim Jakubowski's 100 Great Detectives, published in 1991, is an absolute delight. In it, contemporary mystery authors expound on their personal favorite fictional detectives. As Jakubowski states in his intro: "Every author was asked to submit a list of two or three of their favorite characters, and I then assigned a detective to each. I think the result is wonderfully idiosyncratic and makes for compulsive reading. Some of the individual choices are predictable, but so many others less so, and betray fascinating guilty pleasures."
