High-flying New York private eye J. T. SPANNER drives a T-Bird, and has two ex-wives on the payroll. The dude must have charm to burn. He stars in two novels featuring his private investigative skills.

Author Chastain has another New York detective, Max Kaufman, of the NYPD, who teams up with Spanner in 1974's Pandora's Box, and solo on 1976's 911. Chastain also penned a few books which continued the adventures of Erle Stanley Gardner's attorney/private eye Perry Mason.
