Men of
Means by All Means
Leo Roi
Created by Phillips Lore (pseud.
of Terrence Lore Smith)
(1942-88)
Definitely not your average down on his luck, behind on his
rent gumshoe, LEO ROI is a millionaire turned private eye
(oops! investigate attorney). He has a wife, a chauffeur, a houseman,
a classic Bentley and all sorts of other nice things, including
a fancy condo on the lake in Chicago. By the way, the wealth is
inherited, a legacy of his father, a French Canadian who came
to the States to help run booze for Capone, and stuck around to
go legit, as a liquor importer after Prohibition ended. To his
credit, Leo still works for a living, at Roi & Pine, Attorneys
at Law.
Another millionaire P.I. is Arthur Rosenfeld's Nestor
Dark.

(David Smith)
