Created by Anthony Armstrong (pseud. of George Anthony Armstrong Willis; 1897-1976)
JIMMIE REZAIRE certainly seems to know something about the mean streets of London. By the time this streetwise thug makes his appearance as a private eye, he's already pursued careers as a cocaine importer and hired muscle. He appeared in five novels way back in the twenties with his partners, his wife Vivienne and his good friend and fellow crook, Harry.
Jimmie's creator, Anthony Armstrong, was born in Esquimalt, British Columbia, and is probably best known as the author of Ten Minute Alibi, one of the most successful thriller plays ever written. But in his long career, besides plays and the Jimmy Rezaire novels, he also wrote short crime and detective stories for The Strand and humourous articles on military and civilian life for Punch. Several of his stories were adapted to film and television, including Alfred Hitchcock Present.
