"Frankie Pat" Puntacavello
Created by Jean Mazarin (pseud. Emmanuel Errer)

French private eye "FRANKIE PAT "PUNTACAVELLO (his first name is Franklin but he chose 'Frankie Pat' in order to seem American) and his rather large, colourful family live in Nice, and have appeared in a dozen or so novels so far, published under the Fleuve Noir imprint. Mazarin manages to portray the life of French "expatriates" from Algeria (people who were obliged to flee after the war and are now living on the French riviera ). These people (called 'les pieds noirs') have brought with them the atmosphere, langage and living conditions of Algeria...

Mazarin won the celebrated Le grand prix de la littérature policière literary prize in 1983 .
