Lorraine Page
Created by Lynda LaPlante

Former LAPD Lieutenant LORRAINE PAGE once had a family and a career. But she lost both in a haze of booze. Now she's dried out, and looking to restore her rep and her floundering private detective agency. In her second appearance, 1997's Cold Blood, she takes on a high-profile missing daughter case, which eventually brings her to New Orleans. It seems to be a race against time as Lorraine rushes to crack the case before she cracks up.

The New York Times Book Review wasn't impressed, claiming the book was "mired in stilted dialogue and crude caricatures, has a bad smell. And the missing girl seems so unlikable that readers may not care if Page ever finds her."

Author Lynda LaPlante is the creator of Inspector Jane Tennison, the hardnosed hero of the excellent British Prime Suspect series.
