Sleeper Hayes

Created by Court Haslett

While skid row bum SLEEPER HAYES may not be a private eye, he sure does make trouble his business. Or at least trouble seems to find him. Certainly he doesn't seem too shy about bouncing around late-seventies San Francisco, knocking on doors and taking down names.

In his debut, Tenderloin (2017), he sets out to investigate the murder of a former member of Jim Jones People's Temple, and in Trouble No More (released the next month!), he sets out tov find the missing stockbroker brother of his sometime-girlfriend, Anna, a sculptor.

Court Haslett is a San Francisco and Bay Area resident for over twenty years, and his work has been short-listed for the Faulkner-Wisdom Award. When not writing, Court likes to gamble and grouse, usually in that order.

  • "What a book Tenderloin is... a startling debut and surely the dawning of what is going to be a major writer. Just flat out delightful."
