Sam Colton
Created by Gina Cresse

Is SAM COLTON he-man enough for you?

When he's not bouncing around Hollywood, cracking wise to thugs and engaging in assorted derring-do like a Tinseltown version of Parker's Spenser, he works as a stuntman.

But to her credit, at least Cresse isn't afraid to cop to her influences. Plus, she seems to actually know what she's doing. The research knows -- whether it's firearms or the movie industry -- and she keeps things moving, although her opting for third person weakens some of the immediacy of Sam's penchant for cracking wise.

Cresse is the author several other crime novels, including Sinfandel, a light-hearted wine whodunnit set in California's Central Valley, and the Devonie Lace mysteries. Colton P.I.: Second Unit (2012), which introduced Colton and is the first in a proposed series, is her first P.I. novel.
