A former senior Russian militia official, RUMYANTEV has gone into private security, operating as a sort of fixer, no questions asked, for his clients, while bumping heads with his nemesis, militia inspector REMEZTOV. Which in All Joking Aside (his only appearance thagt I could track down) means cleaning up a murder scene, digging a slug out of the wall and otherwise tampering with evidence. Meanwhile, his good pal the militia inspector is on vacation, and sniffing around on his own. NOVELS
