Denver's wannabe private eye REED FERGUSON actually gets to see his dream come true, becoming a real-life private eye, just like those hard-boiled gumshoes that his hero, Humphrey Bogart played so well.
Only thing is, Reed's cases don't quite measure up to those of his idol. And Reed's no Bogart either, for that matter.
But mama, that's where the fun is. The usual self-publisher's constant (and obvious) shout outs to classic crime and detective books and films may grow tiresome, but they're delivered with more wit than usual, and the author shows a knack for plotting, the stories rolling merrily along, laced with enough action and a healthy dollop of humour to keep things hopping.
Besides the Reed Ferguson series, the prolific Renée Pawlish writes the Nephilim fantasy trilogy, the Noah Winters YA adventure series, the Sarah Spillman series (about a female cop), a middle-grade historical novel, a bunch of short stories and even a non-fiction account of a haunted house investigation. The Sallie House: Exposing the Beast Within. Her latest endevour? She's just started a new series, featuring private eye Dewey Webb, who was introduced in Back Story (2015), one of the Reed Ferguson novels.
Includes This Doesn't Happen In The Movies, Reel Estate Rip-off, The Maltese Felon and "Elvis and the Sports Card Cheat."
