At fifty-something, former housecleaner turned Placentia, California private investigator PERI MINNEOPA is no spring chicken, but she manages to get by, despite interference from and numerous interuptions by a large circle of friends and relatives.

That list includes her boyfriend Skip Carleton, a detective on the local force; Skip's grown daughters, who don't particularly approve of her, and her trouble-prone sometime assistant Benny Needles, who suffers from OPCD, Asperger's and a probably unhealthy obsession with Dean Martin.

Uber-hard-boiled fans may tsk-tsk at Peri not carrying a gun, and on the other end of the spectrum, beware! -- Peri and Skip have a healthy sex life.
