Did you hear? NICOLE CHARLES (a nice tip of the hat there) is a gossip columnist for a Vancouver paper who just can't seem to stop getting mixed up in murder.

She's the lead in a new mystery series for Orca Books' Rapid Reads series, which publishes individually bound novellas "intended for a diverse audience, including ESL students, reluctant readers, adults who struggle with literacy and anyone who wants a high-interest quick read."

Other Rapid Reads authors include crime and mystery writers Reed Farrel Coleman, Ronald Tierney, Melodie Campbell, Rick Blechta and Dayle Campbell Gaetz.

The author is a journalist and award-winning author, and the founding editor of January Magazine, the online literary review site. Somehow she also has time to write about Madeline Carter, a crime-solving stockbroker, and Kitty Pangborn & Dex Theroux, a secretary and her private eye boss.
