Liberty Lane

Created by Caro Peacock

I tell you, we get all kinds here...

LIBERTY LANE is a lady detective who, we are told, is young and plucky. She investigates private matters in Victorian England, accompanied by her wealthy husband (and apparently very understanding) husband, Robert Carmichael, in this popular series of novels by Cara Peacock.

By all accounts well written, and loaded with plenty of juicy historical detail and even juicier cameos by famous (or infamous) notables of the era.

By the way, when I first heard the author's name I thought Caro Peacock sounded suspiciously like a name conjured up by the same sort of person who would have dreamed up something like "Liberty Lane."

It turns out I was right. Peacock is the pen name of Gillian Linscott, the author of numerous other crime novels, including several featuring sufragette sleuth Nell Bray. She lives near the Welsh borders.
