"Nobody is actually from Las Vegas.
-- the first line, Temptation Town
JACK BARNETT may be your man.
The Los Angeles private eye got his ass out of the City of Angels just in time, one step ahead of the law, figuring he could get lost in the glittery sham of Las Vegas.
Jack's big plan was to cash in on his alleged talent for poker, laying low and squeeze out a living as a low-limit seven-card stud player in a no-name casino far from the bright lights. But it turns out Jack's card "skills" aren't quite as good as he'd hoped, and trouble is never as far away as he'd prayed.
And so, with the bank balance sinking low, it's down those mean streets a man must go again, maybe reluctantly, but neither tarnished nor afraid, in this trilogy consisting of two novelettes and a full novel that brings it all home.
