ISHMAEL JONES is the latest weirdo to come slithering out of British author Simon R. Green's twisted and peculiar mind.

If at times the cynical, secretive, oddly all-knowing and deadly investigator seems seems a tad otherworldly, well, that's because he is.

He's an alien who came to Earth in the 1960s, and is employed (or is it kept?) by an equally mysterious figure, known only as the "Colonel," the front man for the "Organization," who occasionally sends Jones out on missions to ferret out secrets and to investigate -- and occasionally kill -- certain people.

The author is best known, in these pages at least, for his long-running series featuring private eye John Taylor, who prowls the mean and supernatural streets of the Nightside of London.
