Dr. Adam Knox

Created by Peter Spiegelman

Private eyes seem to come from all walks of life but I think Peter Spiegelman's ADAM KNOX is the first gumshoe to have been a physician.

Not that he's a private eye exactly.

Struggling under the burden of the huge humanitarian monkey on his back, he's running a struggling clinic near Los Angeles' notorious Skid Row. To make ends meet, the good doctor makes unofficial "house calls" on those who'd rather their medical needs were dealt with under the radar... and without any pesky paperwork. In other words, cash only.

No questions asked. Or else.

But when people are hurting, Knox can't look away.

And sometimes questions should be asked.

The author worked on Wall Street for twenty years developing software systems for international banking institutions before retiring in 2001 to devote himself to writing full time. He pretty much hit it out of the park with an acclaimed series of books featuring quixotic New York City private eye John March.

UNDER OATH

  • "...a bruised wonder of a crime novel. Filled with page-turning intrigue and an L.A. atmosphere so richly rendered you can practically smell the 'eucalyptus and dust,' it is both thrilling and rueful, harrowing and moving. DON'T MISS IT."

-- Megan Abbott on Dr. Knox
