Dandy Gilver

Created by Catriona McPherson

DANDY GILVER is a female 1920s Edinburgh amateur sleuth (turned private eye later in the series) whose cozy adventures tend to shy away from too much unpleasantness. Her sharp tongue and dry wit, her interactions with her pompous prat of her husband Hugh and her trusty cohort, Alec Osborne, and a shrewd eye for period detail, help things go down a little smoother.

Not to mention a healthy dollop of sex and a slew of eccentric characters, suggesting a scfrewball Scottish spin on Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher.

  • "Dandy Gilver is marvelously, hopelessly, hilariously wonderful. If you haven't discovered Catriona McPherson yet, itís time to start!"

-- Charles Todd
