Cameron Caldwell

Created by Jason Deas

CAMERON CALDWELL was a cop -- and allegedly a good one -- until a DUI (while driving his cruiser) cost him his job.

Ya think?

Anyway, he's packed up his stuff (and his psychic ability to "look into another's eyes and see their darkest sin") and hied it cross-state to Miner's Bluff, Georgia, out in the boonies, where he hopes to establish a detective agency, complete with an office in a dying shopping mall. That's the basic set-up for the generically titled Private Eye (2014), the first in a proposed new series by Jason Deas.

It's a little darker in tone than the author's previous self-published series that featured Benny James, another disgraced cop who shuffles off to a small town to start a new life as a private eye.

UNDER OATH

  • "After reading and thoroughly enjoying the Benny James novels I didn't think Mr. Deas could do any better. I was sadly mistaken."
