Manhattan gumshoe BARNEY MOON is a New Yorker through and through who reluctantly journeys to the City of Angels to retreive a single piece of evidence, in his gonzo fish-out-of-water debut, Cross Purposes (2014).
In and out, Barney figures. No prob, right? But he's soon waylaid by a string of outrageous occurences and a slew of Los Angelenos out to make his life miserable -- a La-La Land version of Scorsese's After Hours, with a dash of Elmore Leonard's Get Shorty tossed into the mix.
And it doesn't help that Barney's not exactly fitting into LaLa Land. There's nothing laidback about the man -- he's about as mellow as a kick in the groin. Hell, he doesn't even drive.
Barney's creator, Thomas B. Sawyer, is a novelist, screenwriter and playwright, and has served as the head writer and showrunner for numerous television shows, most notably Murder She Wrote. He's taught writing at UCLA and several other colleges and universities, and is currently conducting an online course, Storytelling: How to Write Stories That Will Grab and Hold Your Audience.
