J. Howard "Jigger" Moran
Created by John Roeburt

JIGGER MORAN is a disbarred attorney and sometime-cabbie who cruises the streets of New York, keeping an eye open for the main chance, when he's not shooting craps. He takes cases no honest lawyer or P.I. would touch. His fees are high, but what's a guy to do when the dice aren't rolling his way? Still, he gets the job done, much to the dismay of Homicide Captain Ahearn.

He was the creation of writer John Roeburt, who won an Edgar for his 1949 novel, Tough Cop, featuring Johnny Devereaux, a hardboiled twenty-year veteran of the police force.
