Created by Barb D'Amato
Not a P.I. per se, but a freelance investigative reporter with a nose for news and a soft spot for social and political issues, Chicago's CAT MARSALA has shown up in a string of witty and meticulously-researched novels and short stories since 1990. Not quite as strident as Windy City neighbour V.I. Warshawski.
Author D'Amato has had an interesting life, so far. Her CV includes B.A. and M.A. degrees from Northwestern University, and stints as an assistant surgical orderly, a carpenter for stage magic illusions, a legal researcher, and past president of both Sisters-In-Crime and The Mystery Writers of America. She also writes two other crimes series, one about a forensic pathologist and another about a male/female cop team, both set in Chicago, where Ms. D'Amato currently resides.
