Now here's a peculiar one. In The Stalking Horse (1998), the fifth book of a YA series featuring 19th century Seneca Falls, New York librarian and amateur sleuth Glynis Tryon, her young niece BRONWEN LLYR drops out of school to becomei a Pinkerton agent. And on her first assignment, she accidentally overhears a conversation about a secret plan to assassinate the recently elected President Lincoln.
With the aid of her aunt and a young fugitive, Bronwyn rushes to Baltimore to foil the plot.
Bronwen, who eventually becomes a Treasury Agent, reappears in several subsequent books in the series, although not always as the primary protagonist.
Report respectfully submitted by Kevin Burton Smith.
