Connor Gibbs
Created by Leo Atkins (pseud. of Clay Harvey)

Former Duke University giant (slightly smaller than a yeti, but not as hairy) and divorced dad CONNOR GIBBS has a shady past and a soft spot for kids, possibly because his ex-wife rarely allows him to speak with his own child. May explain why, in his debut, 1999's DeadBeat, he goes to work for a nine-year old, trying to track down his missing father, for the princely sum of $67.12.

There's a real attempt, at least in his debut, to make Connor a quirky, intriguing character, but his doofus charm is offset by some pretty hard violence. Imagine Shell Scott with half the humour, and twice the blood.

Several more books, all PBO's have followed, and more, no doubt, are planned. Leo Atkins is the pseudonym of Clay Harvey, who writes the Tyler Vance series, about an ex-special op turned family man who can't seem to keep out of trouble.
