"Stop interrupting me! While you murmer
sweet nothings, the killer will escape!"
-- Toni gets her priorities in line.
TONI GAYLE was the star of a string of back-up stories in the pages of Young King Cole comics back in the late forties. Evidently, she was a "famous fashion model" who still found time to pursue a secondary career as a "freewheeling detective and crime buster," according to Mike Benton's The Illustrated History of Crime Comics.
Although all-but-forgotten now, a legacy of sorts lives on. "My mum fell in love with the name and I was named after her in 1951," says Toni Gayle, a hypnotherapist in Florida who still finds time to pursue her true love of writing.
