This rude, crude buffoon makes Mike Hammer look like Ghandi. Perpetually horny (and of course women can't resist him) and excessively violent, it's hard to believe that Los Angeles private eye SAM HUNTER isn't some kind of parody, or some ironic tribute to bad P.I. literature. Certainly, there's nothing here to match the wit, humour and soul of author Morse's Jake Spanner in The Old Dick.
