The dick of a thousand faces.
To gain backgrund for a starring role in an upcoming TV show, seasoned actress PHYLLIDA MOON takes a part-time gig with the real-life Peter Piper Detective Agency in Seaminister, but -- with her flair for drama and her fondness for disguises -- discovers she's got a knack for the job, and decides to stick around.
That's the basic premise of this lightweight but entertaining and well-regarded British series. And don't worry -- for those of you who like theatrical mysteries, even when Phyllida does take the big plunge and becomes a private detective full-time, she seems to find herself back in the thespian wolrd with alarming frequency. And her regular use of of wigs, makeup, assorted padding, and prosthetic devices means the smell of greasepaint is always in the air.
Author Dewhurst was born in Liverpool, and attended Oxford. When she's not writing she enjoys solving cryptic crossword puzzles and painting cats. There's no info on whether she wipes the paint off later or not.
