PAULINA STEWART is an Ottawa, Ontario private detective who specializes in finding stolen children, particularly those who end up the helpless victims of custody battles. She's got a olid rep, and is thoroughly professional. Certainly she'd never get involved with a client. Until a particularly handsome one walks in, and she immediately notes "the lucious gleam to his thick, dark hair, and the chiselled planes of his face."
Well, hey, whaddya expect? It's a Harlequin book, published under their Intrigue imprint.
Still, author Joyce Sullivan knows her stuff. She has degree in criminal justice and worked as a real-life California private eye before turning to writing for a living. She currently lives in Aylmer, Quebec "with her handsome French-Canadian husband and her two casebook-toting kid detectives." I haven't read this one yet, but judging from a rather captivating talk she gave recently about the the ins and outs of the private investigation world, this might be one time you should listen to Bo Diddley. Don't judge a book by its cover (or its publisher).
