MALLOY would like to think he's a private eye, but the truth is he's more a professional tough guy, as much a troublemaker as a troubleshooter, not above working as a bouncer (although he prefers the term "short-term security" expert). When the going gets tough, give him a call. He's not to hard to find. as he puts it, in typically blunt fashion, "A grey-haired, beer-bellied, six-and-a-half foot Irishman in a small English market town... not exactly a needle in a haystack."

Malloy's creator, David Cox, is a teacher from Stamford, Lincolnshire in the UK, who does a bit of freelance journalism and short story writing on the side.
