Raymond Lowery
Created by Stanley J. Solomon

"I didn't have the brains or the right to be any dispenser of justice. I had locked up my licensed guns a couple of years ago for exactly that reason."

A man of experience, Manhattan private eye RAY LOWERY has been in business for over twenty years. His detective agency, Lowery-Matthews Investigations, employs several associates as well as the ever-faithful and reliable Miss Weskitt, office manager. Ray's a professional, efficient and thorough, and he handles himself in a cool, detached manner.

He also keeps himself in shape, and he likes old movies, but mostly, he keeps his private life to himself. Like The Continental Op, Ray exists for us only as far as his job takes him. Nothing fancy, but good solid storytelling, with an air of authenticity and credibility one doesn't often find in this genre, reminiscent of Hammett and Gores. Hopefully there will be more to come. I especially liked "Gift Givers."
