Allan Karve
Created by Totti Karpela (1940--)

ALLAN KARVE is a Finnish private eye in the small town of Naantali who appeared in two novels written by Totti Karpela in the mid-seventies. Not very succesful commercially or critically.

Then, almost thirty years later, Totti Karpela took the dust off his shoulders and brought Karve back in Pyöveli harvoin kättelee. The book received a warm welcome and it was thought to be better than the ones Karpela had written in the seventies. Karpela also wrote a memoir of his teenage years in the early fifties, called Kiimakorttelin keltainen kissa (The Yellow Cat of the Horny Block).
