Real-life private eye Steven Gore goes all Ludlumesque on his big chunky first novel, Final Target (2010), which introduces Bay Area gumshoe GRAHAM GAGE. When his best friend, an attorney, is shot during his morning run, go-to-guy Gage jumps in to find out what's going on, and before you can say Bourne, he and his associates are stomping all over the globe, slugging it out with Russian and Ukrainian gangsters, defense contractors, assorted industrial spies and other miscreants.
It doesn't always make much sense, but it is a helluva lotta fun. Which, come to think of it, applied to Ludlum as well. Just to make sure, though, the publishers have splashed an American flag on the cover...
