ANDREW DOUGLAS, the lead character in The Danger (1984) is a top operative of (and a partner in) Liberty Market Ltd., a London-based detective agency specializing in kidnap cases.
Dick Francis is, of course, the British champion jockey-turned-thriller writer famous for his horse-racing themed mysteries. His best known character is former champion jockey-turned-private eye Sid Halley, who appeared in several novels, and whose adventures spawned a TV series.
