Don't get too excited.

This flick, starring Winona Ryder, every fan boy's favourite shoplifter, as SIRI TYLER, as an insurance investigator and Joseph Fiennes as a forensic specialist looking into a suspiciously bizarre death, bounced around for a while and then vanished.

Supposedly it's a romantic comedy. On the other hand, it's also been billed as very black, a sort of "noir comedy."

As far as I know, no official release date was ever confirmed, though supposedly it did screen at Sundance, and then suddenly it was available on DVD. Does that make it "almost-straight-to-video"?

The title, of course, comes from the Darwin Awards, an Internet honor given to people who die or maim themselves in ridiculous (ie: stupid) ways.

"The Darwin Awards are given to the individual(s) who remove themselves from the gene pool in the most spectacular and usually hilarious manner. However there is an exception to the requirement to die. If the individual does not die, however does render him or herself incapable of reproducing they are still eligible for the honor."

"The Darwin Awards salute the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who accidentally kill themselves in really stupid ways."

Report respectfully submitted by Kevin Burton Smith.
