Duke Martindel
Created by Leslie T. White

Dangerous Lady, starring Neil (Holy Commissioner Gordon, Batman!) Hamilton and Jane Story as swanky private eye DUKE MARTINDEL and his wife Phyllis, is a funky 1941 Thin Man rip-off that definitely has its moments.

Even if they are of the B variety.

The Nick-and-Nora wannabes get involved in a murder case when a man drops dead of a gunshot wound in their apartment living room, but not before revealing startling new evidence that could clear a woman (played by Evelyn Brent) currently on death row.

Granted, Hamilton and Storey are no Powell and Loy, but they invest the married sleuths with an affable breeziness, and there are several clever little turns in the script (co-written by a young Sidney Sheldon) that almost make up for the convuluted plot and so-so acting of much of the rest of the cast.

Worth a watch.
