Monty Crocetti and Denton
Ward
Created by William Mize
MONTY CEOCETTI is
a private eye with one hell of a convenient boyfriend -- DENTON
WARD, who's a psychic. Sure comes in handy when you're looking
for clues, I'm sure.
But actually, there's a lot more going on in Resurrection Angel, William Mize's genre-tweaking Shamus-nominated first novel. Monty's not just a gumshoe, she's also a part-time punk rocker and full-time extrovert, while Denton's a moody alcoholic, an introvert and something of a recluse. He's also a genius, and on more than one occasion, something of an obnoxious jerk. And the case they're tackling isn't your run-of-the-mill case either -- it involves amnesia, UFOs, alien abduction, pregnant virgins, abortion clinic protests and that good ol' reliable stand-by, murder.
"I touch things and they tell me stories. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes brutal." Denton Ward says at one point -- make no mistake, he's genuinely psychic. But his "gift" has brought him more than just fame and fortune than he knows what to do with. It's also left him not exactly the most likeable of people (though it does make him a great character). Thank God monty's around to keep him human.
