Dukane

Created by Gary Brandner (1933-2013)

DUKANE is just one of several private eyes created by Gary Brandner that popped up in Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine and other places. Not groundbreaking, but pleasantly gritty.

Author Brandner also created LA gumshoe D. Stonebreaker, but is probably best known for The Howling, his werewolf-themed trilogy of novels.

BREAKING NEWS

  • I just found out Dukane's first name is Adam. Okay, go back to what you were doing.

SHORT STORIES

  • "Sing to Me, Dead Man" (November 1970, EQMM)
  • "All Debts Off" (April 1971, EQMM)
  • "Sagittarius" (Januuary 1972, MSMM)
  • "Bad Actor" (1973, AHMM)
  • "The Lame, the Halt and the Dead" (March 1976, MSMM; aka "The Halt and the Dead")

Respectfully submitted by Kevin Burton Smith, with thanks to Big Phil for the codespotting.
