Sam Crombie
Created by George Harmon Coxe
Private eye SAM CROMBIE is a man of "considerable bulk", fiftyish and wears a panama hat. He heads The Crombie Agency, situated "on the fourth floor of a non-descript office building on Seventh Avenue in the forties" which gives "no clue to the type of business pursued inside." By all accounts he's a plodding, methodical detective with a single-mindedness verging on stubborn. He's appeare in two novels back in the fifties.
The prolific writer Coxe has several other PI series characters: MAX HALE, LEON MORLEY, and JACK FENNER, as well as his best known creations, crime photographers, FLASHGUN CASEY and KENT MURDOCK who are basically private eyes with cameras.
