The Chicago Public Library and Chicago mayor Daley have recently announced that Raymond Chandler's classic P.I. novel The Long Goodbye has been selected for its city-wide reading program, The entire month will be full of Chandler discussions, programming, related film series and more, including a Virtual discussion with The Outfit Collective on their blog for two weeks in April, a Raymond Chandler Night at Weegees bar in Humboldt Park, a weekend matinee series at The Music Box Theatre that will screen films adapted from Chandlers novels or written by Chandler himself, a lecture by Indiana University film scholar James Naremore, a solo talk by Judith Freeman, novelist and author of the recent Chandler biography The Long Embrace and more.
