Lucy Trimble
Created by Eric Wright
LUCY TRIMBLE's a middle-aged, part-time librarian, living out the last days of a crumbling marriage, who runs a bed-and-breakfast in a sleepy northern Ontario town. So what's she doing running a Toronto detective agency? Seems a distant relative remembered her in his will...
The catch is that most of her clients are lowlife scum--and Lucy is way out of her depth. But she's tougher than she looks. As one critic put it, "Not so much hardboiled as poached gently."
Author Eric Wright is best known for the excellent (but definitely non-hard-boiled) Charlie Salter mysteries, but he has also written two books about Lucy Trimble. And now he has a third series character, Joe Barley, a permanent part-time sessional instructor of English literature at a community college in Toronto who is occasionally employed by a security company as a "watcher."
