Lucy Trimble

Created by Eric Wright

LUCY TRIMBLE's a middle-aged, part-time librarian, living out the last days of a crumbling marriage, who ran a bed-and-breakfast in a sleepy northern Ontario town.

So what's she doing running a Toronto detective agency? Seems a distant relative remembered her in his will...

The catch is that most of her clients are lowlife scum--and Lucy is way out of her depth. But she's tougher than she looks. As one critic put it, "Not so much hard-boiled as poached gently."

Author Eric Wright is best known for the excellent (but definitely non-hard-boiled) Charlie Salter mysteries, but he has also written two books about Lucy Trimble. And now he has a third series character, Joe Barley, a permanent part-time sessional instructor of English literature at a community college in Toronto who is occasionally employed by a security company as a "watcher."
