Kate Baeier
Created by Gillian Slovo

Portuguese-born, sax-playing KATE BAEIER, an ex-war correspondent in London, has appeared in several well-written, politically-charged hardboiled PI novels, with a decidedly-progressive slant. In fact, her first books were published by Pluto Crime, an imprint of a British academic press specializing in "serious left wing books."

Gillian Slovo is a South African mystery writer, and a child of activists who became key figures in the history of that country. She's written about her parent's marriage in 1997's Every Secret Thing: My Family, My Country. She's also responsible for a great non-mystery novel, Facade.
