ACE POWERS was a "tough-as-nails" private eye from the Golden Age of comics. He appeared in a at least four stories in Silver Streak Comics, a bi-monthly which sometimes ran as many as ten stories per issue, featuring everything from superheroes (like Silver Streak himself) to test pilots and cowboys. So a hard-boiled shamus fit right in.
And Ace certainly seemed to be tough enough. In the course of his adventures, the "Smash Detective" tangled with assorted "murderous" maniacs, including a sadistic gangster who tied Ace to an over-heating radiator (Yowch!) and an escaped (and disfigured) insane asylum inmate who committed crimes in a Panther mask.
