Lang
Created by Peter Robinson

LANG is a Toronto private eye, first introduced in Peter Robinson's "The Cherub Affair," who got into the detective biz in a rather roundabout way. Originally the proud possessor of a Ph.D. in English, he turned to detective work after failing to find an academic position, "fuelled by years of Hammett and Chandler." He set about acquirtng a P.I. license, first serving an apprenticeship with a larger firm before striking out on his own, opening LANG INVESTIGATIONS in a suitably rundown building right by Angelo's doughnut shop in a Scarborough strip mall.

Robinson is, of course, best known for his Inspector Banks series, set in Yorkshire, England. A Yorkshireman himself, he now calls Toronto home.
