Black Jack Justice & Trixie Dixon

OTR-style dicks go podcastin!'

Part of the Decoder Ring Theatre audio drama podcasts, Black Jack Justice is their first foray into the style of the tough guy detective radio dramas of the forties, and it's plenty of fun, if occasionally a little more over-boiled than hard-boiled.

BLACK JACK JUSTICE is a grizzled World War II vet, your typical post-war dick, a hard-bitten, hard-drinking gumshoe who spits out wisecracks in a steady stream. His partner in crime is TRIXIE DIXON, a seen-it-all "girl detective" who's more than capable of keeping up with her boss when it comes to wisecrackery.

It's all a little over the top at times -- especially since the first-person narration is shared by both of them, who tend to try to outdo each other in the audio scenery-chewing department, and some of the double entendres are real groaners -- but it's all done with such affection and zeal that both OTR and hipper-than-thou post-irony fans should get a kick out of it.

All the Black Jack Justice shows are available for free download through the Decoder Ring Theatre Website and can also be subscribeed as an RSS feed. New episodes are sheduled to appear every second Saturday, and past episodes will also be kept available for the taking.
