  It feels slapped together, but this ebook is more than just a quickie collection of all the afterwords and introductions Block's written over the years for his countless reprints and re-issues. It serves not just as an informal book on writing, publishing and storytelling from the fifties until the present, but also as a sort of eratz memoir that traces Block's life from his early days as an alcoholic, a pulp writer and a Lesbian (long story) to his present-day status as one of the most highly regarded writers of the genre. Block keeps threatening to retire, but with the level of wit, humour and plain old writing chops that goes into even these tossed out bon mots, it's pretty clear that he's still got plenty of mojo -- not to mention chutpah -- working.
