And yes, I'd love to support those small independent bookstores if I could, but that street runs both ways.

If you want me to support small independant bookstores, convince them to advertise with me. Go ahead. Try. Because I've given up. In the years I've been doing this site, only one of them has ever advertised on these pages -- although I've certainly heard from them often enough when they want a free listing or want to chew me out for not doing enough to keep their businesses afloat.
